Born and raised in Japan, Yoshimi Kono studied architecture in Tokyo. He was chief designer with Shigeru Uchida at Studio 80 in Tokyo and later became a partner of Vignelli Associates of New York. Its design conveys the philosophy of Japanese minimalism with simplicity.
