How to open a lock without the key? Unfortunately, it can be all too easy to crack a low-quality one.
How to pick a lock and what can guarantee that our arch or pole locks are really protecting our assets? Read on to learn more.
How to open a lock without a key?
Usually you want to open a lock without a key in 2 specific cases:
- if you are a novice thief who is trying to steal a bicycle,
- or if you have lost your keys (or the whole bunch).
I want to clarify right away that with this article I want to help careless people (and not dishonest ones).
In fact, every day at Windowo we are engaged in the fight against thieves and we sell different models of
home burglar alarms that allow many people to sleep and have peaceful dreams.
How to break a lock?
Given the fairly inexpensive cost of a lock, you may decide to simply break the lock and fix the problem in seconds.
If you want
to break the lock proceed as follows:
- get two wrenches or shears,
- introduce them in the free space between one side and the other of the arch,
- force the lock a little and open it.
However, I advise you to try to save the lock by breaking it, so as not to cause damage to its internal mechanisms.
The
lock picking technique is a real art and could become your hobby, as it already is for many other people.
The materials from which the padlocks are made
But is breaking a lock really as simple as we've seen? Unfortunately, in the vast majority of cases, this is the case. This should warn you before buying a non-
burglary lock.
You should always check that the material of the body and the arch is resistant to burglary . Remember that a higher quality lock usually corresponds to a higher resistance.
Check that the arch is made of steel and consider the option to buy one in stainless steel, more resistant to the most adverse weather phenomena. This material is much more resistant, in fact,
stainless steel handles are also produced to open the entrances of homes and businesses.
What do I recommend you do to make sure a lock is secure? Carefully evaluate the features and choose the lock that best suits your specific needs. Below I will give you some other advice on this.
How to make a lock more secure?
Did you know that the dimensions of the body and the arch affect the resistance of the lock to burglary? Having taken the measurement with the fixing point, the arch or rod must not exceed the dimensions of the object excessively.
- Do not purchase a lock with a wide arch and consequent empty space where shears or other cutting tools can be inserted;
- Even better: buy a padlock designed for adjusting the length of the arch;
- If you want to use a padlock that you already have, I suggest you put steel washers all around the locking point, so as to eliminate the empty space and prevent anyone from exploiting it;
- If the lock is opened by you without a key, remember that someone else can do it too,
- If you want to protect bulky goods, you can buy safety safes .
How to open a lock?
The
locks that are used for normal padlocks have a fixed cylinder inside and a spool that can be moved.
Lock cylinders and spools have inside pistons that must be aligned in order to make the click and open the padlock.
To open the pistons of the spool must be in the spool and the same goes for those of the cylinder.
When the key is turned in a lock to close it, the spring pushes the cylinder pistons into the spool, locking it.
How to open a lock with a hairpin?
- Remove any rubber pads from the hairpin;
- Open it and give it a "V" shape;
- Insert a shank of the hairpin into the upper part of the lock, holding the padlock firmly;
- Without exerting too much pressure, keep pushing up until you hear the click of victory.
How to crack a lock with a can?
You can use an
empty can to lock and unlock a brass padlock with a steel head.
- Take a utility knife and remove the ends of the empty can;
- Cut what remains in half, so as to make an aluminum sheet (be careful not to cut yourself!);
- Create a rectangle with a length of two centimeters (the height does not matter);
- Cut out two triangles on the longest side, at a distance of 1 cm from each other;
- You will now have flaps at the ends of the triangles. Fold the rectangle in half, making a "U";
- Insert the part of the "U" that is shaped like a trapezoid into the internal cavity of the sides of the arch.
Opening the padlock could damage the lock
There are many methods of picking a lock, but often these can
damage the lock .
This may make it impossible to use the key again. I advise you to take this possibility into account before starting to work.
Finally, I would like to point out that we sell particular anti-
intrusion bars that could be right for you, always if your desire is to protect a room from unpleasant visits.
